A Letter From Merlyn
I often say that entrepreneurship, for me, started long before I ever opened a business.
I grew up in my mamas salon, watching women walk through those doors carrying the weight of their lives.
Some were mothers.
Some were wives.
Some were business owners.
Some were trying to figure out who they were outside of the roles they carried every day.
Yes, they came for beauty services. But what they often found was something much deeper.
They found community.
They found conversation.
They found support.
They found a space where they could exhale.
A space where, even for a little while, they didn't have to carry everything alone.
Those experiences shaped me more than I realized at the time. They taught me that women are incredibly resilient, but they also taught me how much we tend to carry silently.
Years later, when I opened my own salon and spa, I poured everything I had into building it.
My time. My energy. My heart. My identity.
And then life forced a reset.
A tow truck crashed into our building, and in a instant, everything changed.
The business I had spent years building was suddenly gone.
What followed was one of the most challenging and transformative seasons of my life.
It forced me to slow down and ask questions I had never really asked before.
Who was I without the business?
What was I actually building?
Had I created a business that supported my life, or had I built a life around my business?
What I discovered changed the way I think about entrepreneurship forever.
I learned that life doesn't stop happening when you're building a business.
Families still need us.
Children still need us.
Unexpected challenges still come.
Hard seasons still arrive.
And when they do, the strength of your foundation is revealed.
That experience became the catalyst for The CEO Reset.
Because I believe women deserve more than burnout disguised as success.
I believe women deserve businesses that support the life they want to live.
I believe success should come with clarity, intention, and peace... not constant pressure.
